Grade 8

The grade eights are always ready for a challenge. Building on the grade seven basic social and classroom skills learning, the teachers are able to take the grade eight curriculum much further. In the fall, the class works with their Island School student partners to spearhead a can recycling program in South Eleuthera. Traditionally it has been extremely successful. The grade eights are also involved in the school aquaponics system that was installed by the IS student research team. Their jobs for the system are to test the pH of the water and change the water at least once every two days, among other monitoring and measuring tasks.  When not working on projects or in class, the grade 8 students are usually very social during recess and lunch breaks, hanging out under the tree watching the baseball game or talking about their weekend plans.
